Was woken early morning by the smell of smoke and fumes My eyes awoke to seeâ aâ flame come dancingâ in the room And as she danceâ she dazzled & entranced me with her gaze
And suddenly I realised that my room was now ablaze
I had to leave the comfort of what once had been my home The flames once burnt had left me without a thing to call my own My heart reduced to ashes and my soul reduced to tears Collapsed and burned and bloody, broken way beyond my years
I thought I could hear Sekhmet whisper Crackling my name SayingââDo not fear your death my friend, fear life and all its painâ âThe pain that you have suffered and the pain thatâs yet to comeâ
âThe pain if thereâs a next life and the pain if there is noneâ
I sifted through the embers not sure what I hoped to find Perhaps a vision of your face perhaps a sacred sign The blackened frames and timbers glowed a flashing orange gold The colours that a true love said once was the me of old
The smell of smoke was beaten by the smell of petrichor The rains washed all the ashes, cleansed the tears and rinsed the pores Your flames they were majestic shame they were but smoke and lies
Youâre cursed with disappointment now until the day you die
